Why Nigerians should not trust Atiku and El-rufai move for coalition –Hakeem Baba Ahmed

Northern Elder Forum leader, Hakeem Baba Ahmed has enjoined Nigerians to be wary of Nasir El-rufai and Atiku Abubakar’s move to form a coalition of opposition parties to challenge president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

Hakeem Baba Ahmed who a few weeks ago, announced his resignation from his position as adviser to vice president Kashim Shettima on politics, in a post he made on his Facebook page, insinuated that the motive for those seeking a coalition is questionable.

The vociferous former spokesperson of the Northern Elder Forum argues that those championing coalition are doing so not for the interest of the poor Nigerians nor with genuine interest to improve governance should they gain power. He described them as politicians seeking to regain their lost opportunity to continue leeching the country’s vast resources at the expense of the suffering masses. Hakeem Baba Ahmed warned that these coalition campaigners and championers must not been seen by Nigerians as patriotic and seeking the public good.

Hakeem Baba Ahmed had previously advised president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step down for a younger, vibrant, and less corrupt candidate to take his place in 2027. He said president Bola Ahmed Tinubu is too old and lacks the needed mental and physical agility to manage the country.

He decried Tinubu’s administration’s lack of genuine commitment to tackling Nigeria’s challenges. According to him, the Tinubu’s administration’s lack of focus and dedication is the major reason he resigned from his position.

Similarly, Hakeem Baba Ahmed also advised former vice president Atiku Abubakar to consider not running for the president in 2027. He said the former vice president should deem it fit to take up a bigger role of a father and elder statesman by supporting a younger politician.
