Why I commend Ganduje for resigning as APC chairman – Peter Obi
Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi has commended former governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje for resigning as the chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Peter Obi while reacting to the news report of Ganduje resignation, said the former governor did what is right especially as he cited his health as the underlying reason for his resignation as APC chairman.
Peter Obi added that other leaders who are grappling with age-related chronic illnesses should emulate Ganduje’s examplary act by resigning from their public offices so as to focus on their health. He explained that aged-related illnesses obstruct Nigerian leaders from effectively discharging their duties and responsibilities as they often resort to health tourism at the expense of leadership.
“I must commend Dr. Ganduje for prioritising his health above all else. With his health reportedly in decline, it is both wise and honourable to step aside, knowing that he may no longer be able to render the level of service required by the party, the people, and the nation”.
“By this exemplary action, Dr. Ganduje has thrown a challenge to other leaders who, due to health-related issues, are no longer able to deliver optimally. I sincerely hope they take a cue from him”.
