Singer Spyro reveals warning advice he got from Banky W over his decision to project Jesus Christ in his music career

Nigeria singer and song writer, Spyro born Oludipe Oluwasanmi David has revealed his sad experience in the Nigeria’s music industry in a recent podcast.
Speaking about his music career and the challenges in the Nigeria entertainment industry, the 34-year-old singer who came to limelight with his single:”Billing” which was released in 2022, revealed that his decision to project Jesus Christ in his music career came with some unfavourable consequences.
He lamented that his Christian faith has earned him some stigmatization in the Nigeria entertainment industry.
According to him, he is usually sidelined by other musicians who do not want to identify with him due to his Christian faith and his resolve not to compromise his Christian belief and convictions. He said his colleagues do not support his music career because of his Christian faith.
Spyro who usually describes himself as a Jesus Boy claims that any who publicly declares his Christian faith in the Nigeria entertainment industry is usually stigmatized and denied support.
In his words: “Do you see these guys post me? Sometimes I ask myself why people who are not doing well as I am, they post them. The answer is simple, once you come out and declare Christ publicly, you enter a war”.
The singer further explained that he had received a piece of advise from veteran singer and producer, Banky W who revealed to him at his emerging days, the potential implication of his decision to make Jesus Christ central to his music career and style of living.
According to him, Banky W explained to him that he was sidelined in the Nigeria music industry when he decided to change from being worldly and embraced Christ. He said he began experiencing rejections and lack of support. Spyro added that Banky W thereafter warned him to be prepared to face rejections for his resolve to project Jesus Christ in his music career.
Spyro’s claims about the Nigeria music industry comes a day after Tiwa Savage made similar remark about the Nigeria music industry being characterized by scandals akin to that of American Diddy.
