Embattled self-proclaimed Prime minister of Biafra government in exhile, Simon Ekpa has reacted to allegation of terrorism against him.
The Biafra nation activist who is currently facing terrorism charges in Finland for his alleged incitement of violence in the south east region of the Nigeria’s federation, through his lawyer, Mr Jonathan Levy denied being responsible for different k!llings and violence in the southeastern states particularly in Orsu, Imo State.
Mr. Jonathan Levy in a press release, reacted specifically to recent reports about the Finnish government charging Simon Ekpa with terrorism as well as a broadcast by IPOB directorate on Radio Biafra on 27th of March, 2025 which alleges that Simon Ekpa through his affiliate militia group, the Biafra Liberation Army, was responsible for different violent activities in Southeast especially in Orsu in Imo State.
Jonathan Levy stated that the allegation by the Radio Biafra against his client, is condemnable, untrue, false and libellous.
He said the Radio Biafra defamatory broadcast against Simon Ekpa violates both domestic and international law and as such, we be challenged.
This development comes amid Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s trial in Nigeria and the Nigeria’s government effort to link him to Simon Ekpa who at his emerging state, he described as his disciple on the actualization of the independent state of Biafra.
According to reports, Simon Ekpa’s Biafra Liberation Army through its illegal enforcement of sit-at-home in the five southeast states of Nigeria, in most cases, resorted to violence that claimed lives of both civilian and security agents.
On the other hand, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has always advocated for nonviolent agitation for the independent state of Biafra. Despite the terrorism charges against him by the Nigeria’s government, the founder of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has maintained that his agitation is within the arm bit of both international and local laws on self-determination.
