Omoleye Sowere, a one-time presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, has called out President Tinubu for going on a medical leave to France under the guise of a working visit.

He made his post on his X account in the afternoon of April 2025. He said:

“Bola Ahmed Tinubu has fled Nigeria again to France, for medical care, although some liars in his office claim he is on a “working visit.” It is troubling to know that approximately 200 million Nigerians may be repeatedly subjected to misinformation disseminated on a daily basis, and they in turn do nothing to liberate themselves.”

From his statement, one can deduce that Sowere’s concern was more of all Nigerians getting misinformed daily and not doing anything about it to liberate themselves.

Meanwhile, netizens have gathered around Sowere’s comment section to air their different views. While some people have found a way of exonerating him, saying that he deserves some rest because he has been handling the country’s issues.

One x user, @juxtophax said: For Tinubu to leave the country at a time when the country is in turmoil shows he does not care about the over 200 million Nigerians that he is ruling (supposed to be serving)

Another, @Wolexian, added: “What’s the value of our own hospitals if truly he fled to France for medical care?

Sowere, known for his social commentary on political and non-political issues, has made other comments on other political issues. in one of X posts, he observed that under @officialabat Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s governance, the practice of rewarding incompetent and long-serving civil servants who refuse to relinquish their positions after attaining retirement age has become obstinately prevalent, thereby obstructing the career progression of others who are either mandatorily retired or coerced out of their roles by these recalcitrant officials. He made his statement in relation to the headline of President Tinubu extending the office tenure of the immigration chief.

Also, in a recent interview, Sowore discredited the political coalition led by figures such as Atiku Abubakar and others, suggesting that such alliances do not serve the best interests of Nigerians.
