Nollywood veteran actress, Eucharia Anunobi
shares stunning story of how she grappled with her sickle cell anemic son which led to the end of her marriage and also jeopardized her acting career.
The actress in a recent interview, revealed that she got married in year 2000 and had a son whose name is Raymond who carried sickle cell trait.
According to her, the birth of Raymond plunged her marriage into frequent crisis with her husband as she was constantly visiting the hospital due to Raymond’s frail health. The frequent visit to hospital would sap their earning as well as dent the love between her and her husband.
She said she would blame her husband for the avoidable development which would have been averted if both knew that they were genetically incompatible to have children who wouldn’t be sickle cell carriers.
Amid their effort to keep their son, Raymond alive, their earnings were spent on his sickness and they would resort borrowing from relatives and friends.
Eucharia Anunobi explained that Raymond’s illnesses dried of their earnings and love; as a result, their marriage ended in 2006 when Raymond was about five years of age.
Following the end of her marriage, she was crested with the responsibility of fending and taking care of her son; a development that gravely affected her acting career.
Unfortunately, her son Raymond would die at the age of seventeen after 17 years of trying to survive.
