President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his December 23rd media chat, enjoined Nigerians to be optimistic about year 2025 which he described as a “promising year”.
The president in his closing remark assured Nigerians that he is committed to improving the general wellness of the country especially as his economic reforms appear to be painful at the moment.
The president vowed that he will not take the trust and belief of Nigerians for granted and urges Nigerians to keep faith in his government by cooperating.
“2025 is a promising year. I won’t take you for granted. I am here to serve. I will do it will all my heart. I seek your cooperation and understanding. I understand the troubles you have been through. We are on right path. Let’s maintain focus.”
The president in the media chat maintained his resolve to stop age long fuel subsidy in the country. He said irrespective of its economic and social effect, fuel subsidy removal has come to stay. He appealed to Nigerians to learn how to “manage” necessary for them to adapt to the aftermaths of the fuel subsidy removal.

“I saw my friend who used to drive five expensive cars. Recently, when I asked him what’s happening and where are other of his cars? He said that’s the condition that I put him. For me, that’s good. We all should learn to manage” .
On his plan for increased agricultural productivity in the country in 2025, the president disclosed that he has procured over 2000 tractors for mechanized farming as well as made provision for more incentive to Nigerian farmers.
The president on his war against corruption, revealed that his recent increase of minimum wage from 35,000 naira to 70000niara is a veritable way of fighting corruption.
“There are so many anti-corruption mechanisms that can be put in place that will help the people not to be corrupt, paying them good and living wages. I moved from 35me, that’s anti-corruption.”
However, the president’s media chat has failed to elicit hope in many Nigerians who had expected sustainable plan from his administration to fix Nigeria’s dwindling economy
