Renowned journalist and politician, Dele Momodu, has opened up about what Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital
Territory (FCT) and former governor of Rivers State did to him after he informed the governor that he wasn’t loved by the north and hence may not get their support for his presidential aspiration.

Speaking in a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, Momodu asserted that their relationship went south when he informed Wike of his intention to contest for the presidency.

According to Momodu, he had reached out to Wike to inform him about his political ambition, hoping to gain his support. However, things became when Wike allegedly started avoiding him.

“I told Wike I wanted to run for president, and I hoped to have his support. He never told me he had plans to run at the time, but I could sense it from the way he was moving and his media engagements,” Momodu stated.

He went on to show his disappointment by revealing that Wike suddenly stopped communicating with him. “He stopped picking my calls. He cut me off completely,” he added.

Momodu noted that he had always regarded the FCT minister as a friend, and the sudden change in their relationship came as a surprise to him. Also, he explained that he was particularly hurt when Wike publicly dismissed him in interviews.

“I was shocked when I saw him on TV mocking my presidential ambition. He acted as if I was insignificant. It was disappointing because I had always respected him,” Momodu complained.

The media mogul also speculated that Wike’s shift in attitude might have been influenced by his political growth and ambition. He further stated that Wike was someone who changes towards people when he no longer sees them as useful to his ambitions.

“Wike is someone who, once he believes he doesn’t need you anymore, he moves on like you never existed,” Momodu asserted.

Momodu, a former presidential aspirant under the PDP, has continued to be vocal about national issues. Meanwhile, Wike, despite being a member of the PDP, currently serves in the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government as the FCT Minister, something that has caused more speculations about his political stand.
