In early January 2025 a public feud erupted between Nigerian music icon Burna Boy and prominent socialite Cubana Chief Priest, capturing widespread attention across social media platforms. The conflict began when Burna Boy referred to Cubana Chief Priest as “Owerri Rick Ross” in an Instagram post, a moniker perceived as a slight by the businessman.
In response, Cubana Chief Priest accused Burna Boy of harboring bitterness and alleged that the artist owed money to a London jeweler. He further claimed to have paid Burna Boy ₦1 million in 2018 to perform as a backup artist at his birthday party, insinuating that Burna Boy should remain humble given his past.
Amidst this escalating dispute, Ghanaian seer Karma President, known for his previous prophecies, issued a cautionary message to Burna Boy. During his New Year prophecies, Karma President advised Burna Boy to cease his conflict with Cubana Chief Priest, warning that the latter possesses powerful spiritual charms capable of harming Burna Boy’s career and well-being. He predicted a tumultuous 2025 for the artist, marked by potential attacks, darkness, and legal troubles, urging Burna Boy’s mother, Bose Ogulu, to take swift action to protect her son.
The situation took another turn when Burna Boy fulfilled a $30,000 promise to Bethel Okechukwu, a phone repairer who had claimed to be related to Cubana Chief Priest. However, Cubana Chief Priest publicly denied any familial ties to Bethel, emphasizing that he has only three biological siblings who are all self-sufficient.
Adding to the public discourse, Nigerian artist Portable expressed support for Burna Boy amidst the feud, stating, “You’re bigger than them,” and encouraging him to focus on his music career.
