Cristina Serra, the wife of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, has spoken publicly for the first time since their separation after more than 30 years together. The couple, who met in 1994 and married in 2014, have been together through Guardiola’s rise to football greatness, but reports of their split emerged in late 2024.
The couple’s separation follows a period of physical distance, as Serra relocated to Barcelona in 2019 to manage her family’s fashion business, Serra Claret. During this time, Guardiola remained in Manchester to fulfill his managerial duties with Manchester City. This arrangement led to a “living apart together” lifestyle, which, over time, evolved into their decision to separate.
In a brief but revealing statement, Serra expressed that she is “feeling great” and reassured that “everything is fine,” though she declined to go into specific details about the reasons behind their breakup. Her comments put an end to speculation about tension between the couple, emphasizing that their decision to part ways was mutual and based on understanding.
Sources close to the family have confirmed that Guardiola and Serra remain on good terms and are committed to co-parenting their three children: Maria (24), Marius (22), and Valentina (17). The couple has maintained a cordial relationship despite the separation, with recent sightings of them together, including a theater outing with one of their daughters in Barcelona.
While Serra has largely stayed out of the spotlight, focusing on managing her family’s fashion business, Serra Claret, in Barcelona, Guardiola’s professional life has remained demanding. Some reports suggest that his decision to extend his contract with Manchester City until 2027, despite previously considering leaving, played a role in their split.
For now, Serra appears to be focusing on her personal life and career, while Guardiola continues to navigate both his footballing commitments and the personal changes in his life. Despite the end of their marriage, Serra’s composed response suggests that both she and Guardiola are moving forward in a way that prioritizes their family’s well-being.
