Ex-deputy national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, chief Bode George in retrospection to the events that played out after the June 12th 1993 presidential election annulment, claimed that Bola Ahmed Tinubu sabotaged late M.K.O Abiola.

In a revelation that concurs to an earlier claims by Kola Abiola, M.K.O Abeola’s son, chief Bode George insinuated that Tinubu following the annulment of the June 12th 1993 election and Abeola’s subsequent arrest and detention, sabotaged Abiola by secretly meeting Sani Abacha in the presidential villa to seek political appointment at the expense of a return to civil rule to which Abiola stood for and was arrested for.

Kola Abiola had claimed that Tinubu joined the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) after Abacha turned down his several plea for an appointment. He implied that Tinubu was less bothered about the election’s annulment as well as the arrest and detention of his father, M.K.O Abiola as he sought to secure a political appointment from Abacha instead.

Hence, Bode George while clarifying  Kola Abeola’s earlier assertion, explained that Tinubu resorted to activism after Abacha refused to make him a commissioner to a military administrator.

Bode George said: ” Most of what Kola said is true. He spoke from the heart and he was trying to set the records straight in the face of the many narratives.

“It is true that Tinubu went to beg for a commissioner position. He was in the Villa and Gen. Oladipo Diya is a witness. He (Tinubu) said he wanted to be a deputy to a military administrator and when all that didn’t work, he went into his activism.”
