Why Peter Obi is unfit to be Nigeria’s president – Godswill Akpabio reveals

Controversial and sexual-harassment linked president of the Nigerian senate, Godswill Akpabio has given some outlines to why Peter Obi is incapable of being Nigeria’s president.

While presiding over the senate session today, 8th of May, senate president Godswill Akpabio responded to Peter Obi’s remark at the Memorial lecture and tribute in honour of late Niger Delta chief, Edwin Clark.

The Reliant Nigeria News had reported how Peter Obi decried the worsening insecurity and economy as well as democratic values of Nigeria. Obi while responding to a previous speaker who prayed  the “labour Of Nigeria’s heroes not be in vain”, argued that the sacrifices of courageous leaders as Chief Edwin Clark have been washed down the drain by inept leaders who are more interested in stealing than in providing governance to the Nigerian people. Speaking further, Peter Obi noted that the courageous fight and sacrifices of leaders such as Edwin Clark especially in entrenching democracy in Nigeria has been eroded by self-centered leaders who utterly disregard the country’s democratic values and processes to attain their political end.

In his reaction to Peter Obi’s remark senate president Godswill Akpabio who is currently grappling with sexual-harassment cases, touted Peter Obi over the ongoing political crisis in the Labour Party. Akpabio urged Peter Obi to show his leadership capacity by “first resolving the leadership crisis in his party”, the Labour Party.

He said Peter Obi is incapable of leading Nigeria as he has not been able to show leadership in his own party grappling with crisis. Akpabio went further to highlight that Peter Obi who is incapable of resolving the Labour Party crisis wants to preside over the helms of the affairs of Nigeria and boasting about his unproven capacity. Akpabio cited that if Peter Obi can not resolve the Labour Party’s crisis, how would he be able to tackle Boko Haram insurgency.

Akpabio would then insinuate that Peter Obi has no evident projects to backup his “bloated” capacity. He thereafter highlighted his accomplishments as a governor of Akwa Ibom state.

Akpabio rounded off his attack on Peter Obi by enjoining the senate to observe a minute of silence in honour of late Edwin Clark whom he said is an icon and would have reprimanded Peter Obi over his remark about the Labour of Nigeria’s heroes being in vain.

Senate president Godswill Akpabio’s attack on Peter Obi while presiding over the senate session has been adjudged by many as a show of arrogance and disrespect to the elevated seat of the senate president.

He is advised to respect the position he occupies and desist from using his position to attack citizens over their show of concern by their opinions over the state of the nation. He is also accused of hypocrisy and overzealousness in his sought to impress president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and remain in the president’s good book.

Netizens reminded the senate president of his corruption case with the Economic and Financial Crime Commission and his recent indictment by an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) convicted recently for election results manipulation in favour of Godswill Akpabio.
