
The governor of Abia state, Alex Otti has reacted to reports making the rounds on social about his holding a night meeting with governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State to perfect his defection to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
In his response to the report, governor Alex Otti through aide on media and publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma refuted the report while describing it as a “ruse” and that the public must disregard it.
The governor emphasized that he has no intention of leaving the Labour Party (LP) on whose platform he was elected the governor of Abia state. He explained that returning to APC from LP is not a decision he will make without considering the interest of the Abia people especially as his administration carries the Abia people along in every of his policies and decision.
The governor added that he will not take any decision that will be disadvantageous to the people of Abia state whom he has their interest in his heart above his personal prejudice.
Governor Alex Otti also enjoined those spreading such falsehood to be wary of hitting up the polity due to their political interest.
Alex Otti explained that the photo being circulated online as his holding a night meeting with governor Hope Uzodinma was taken after the National Executive Council Meeting (NEC) on Wednesday when he accompanied governor Uzodinma to a birthday event of his twin daughters. He said the event had no political agenda as was portrayed on the social media.
The governor further attributed the false report to the 2027 general elections as political figures have begun maneuvering for their political interest ahead of the 2027. He however enjoined them to allow governance dominate their thoughts and actions as his administration is barely two years.
In his conclusion, governor Alex Otti stated that he has no plan at present of joining APC and has never held such a discussion with any.
